The slide is raised by a rod connected to the bellcrank at the top of the carb.

Maybe the rod is not properly seated in the slide and has raised the slide a little.

I never have anything blow out of the breather. That's probably because I have the 25mm sump extension, 25mm longer oil pick up and the oil level 25mm lower.

CC used to sell them. I don't know if they had any real advantage. From memory ( which isn't always great) the CC roller rockers used to have a higher ratio so you got more valve lift.

As others have mentioned, drain the oil and refill with fresh oil. Take out the plugs and crank it over to pump any gas out of the combustion chambers, but I would also change the oil filter too.
