Grinding paste

This is a great write-up GNP77, but may I suggest that in future, you clean your bike before you open it up. I absolutely cringe at the sight of the mud & grime in the vicinity of your valve gear. ...

I'm not sure that they are a good idea at all. You may think that they will keep dirt out of the stanchion seals, but in fact, they are more likely to keep it in where it would normally just be wiped...

Yep Griz, if you want to be a purist, and have a pure-bred bike with every part made in one country, perhaps you should be looking at something unashamedly Chinese or Indian. Even then, I fear there...

Off road courses given by professional instructors are a great investment. They make the whole experience more fun and a lot safer.

The owner, Gavin Green, is a decent chap.

Thumb SA trip

Glad you enjoyed your glimpse of our piece of dirt. Great report!

By the way, discerning South Africans don't drink South African beer either. We drink Namibian beer.

I doubt that. The psychological effect of the noise is probably causing your right hand to operate less sedately, thus giving you the impression of greater power.

The pipe does look good though.

Brake-fluid reservoir

It seems that even Touratech can't sort out that rediculous brake-fluid reservoir. I will only buy an F800 GS once BMW have redesigned that thing.

I agree - It's pretty odd that BMW should call the thing a 650 when it has an 800 engine, but I am optimistic that this, in some way, leaves the option open for them to make an Adventure variant of...

2008 Tenere... what's its purpose?
