I had a set of mx tires in Austria, I forgot which ones, from Mitas and was pretty happy with them...rode them on pavement quite a bit as I lived in the country and there was only one part-time...

I was told they were using a harder compound before and cracking was an issue....i've seen lots of lug cracking on other tires as well..
They have switched to a slightly softer, stickier compound...

Tall 5th
Sorry to jump in here...the tall 5th gives you 5-7% higher ratio , so you are shifting into a real 5th gear, not 4th and a half. Equates to lower revs at cruising speed.

sounds like it's running lean
which would cause spark knock under 3000 rpm's - I've had exactly that symptom a few times - over 3000 it runs fine.....
Maybe that carb isn't giving fuel right, like stagehand says check the...

I'm running BP6HS non resistor NGK's but I think you can run resistors if I'm not mistaken...
Under your carbs at the front (nearest cyl) should be a spigot for vacuum balancing, and next to it...

If your plug has oil on it, then you've got an oil leakage past compression issue...either past rings or valve guides.
I would have guessed the left plug to be oil soaked if you use a sidestand.
