Haven't tried the beads yet, but I reckon I'll go for them with the new tyre (and "update" my front too). I've heard nothing but good things about them.

Not necessary indeed, but considering the slow wear rate on the front I reckon I'll be going this way anyway. I'm no knee-slider on road, and the extra confidence off-road would be welcome.
