If it's cooler where you are run 5w-40. If it's hotter out run the 10w-40 and it'll be fine.

Yup, I've tried WD40 on a chain a long time ago before I knew what I know now. My experience is that it's great at degreasing and cleaning, and that's it. It has very light lubricating properties....
