Everything involves trade-offs! A TE with a wide ratio tranny would not be as capable for racing or for off-road riding in general. In the dirt, the close ratio tranny is a huge asset and really...

I rode KTM for years and also picked the TE450 for similar reasons. On dirtbike only criteria, it is a higher performance bike and IMHO more fun to ride. The 450 even has a bit of that two-stoke hit...

I'd agree. To the extent you define a DS as a "dirtbike with a plate", the KTM is the way to go. Best asset is the KTM's wide ratio tranny. That makes occasional road use much more comfortable.

Another happy TE owner here. In my case, an 06 450. Bought the Husky after many years on a KTM exc. Both bikes are outstanding off road. But the Husky is more a kick to ride. As many have said,...

The TE450 is an amazing dirtbike. My 06 is the funnest bike I've ever owned. The motor is very strong and will keep a smile on your face. Not great for regular highway use though.

XRs are bitchin bikes. I'll always be pissed at Honda for not adding e-start, better front suspensionj, and keeping the air cooled XR line alive.

I'm another fan of the D606 rear. Very stiff sidewall so a PITA to remove. Great durability and better off road performance than the MT21.
