Did you check to see if that wire was under the crash bar before you removed it? Also, the ignition wire deal can be intermittent and hard to see.

Just had the exact same thing. Check out the left side crash bar mount (clamp) where it meets the frame. Feel around on the back side and see if you have a small wire bundle trapped in the clamp....

Thanks for the info ICERIDER, I use a pressure bleeder so essentially I do the same only faster. Keeps me from drinking so much beer while I wait.

Meh - I think it's just the way they are. I just finished installing the CJ kit in mine (2011 Dakar) and it looked exactly the same. I wouldn't sweat it.

Had the very same issue with two TKC80's. I switched to Pirelli Scorpion Rally tires and so far so good. I just had to put 885 pavement miles (in one day) on the Rally and no evidence of cupping....

I am on my second set of Mefo rear and TKC front. We ride our 990's very aggressively and this setup has worked great. There is a little buzz from the TKC but it's no big deal.

I suppose it depends on what your riding on. Pavement or gravel/dirt roads - perhaps you don't need them if you don't mind scuffing your tanks. But I ride on a lot of rocky single track type stuff...
