Well, I have two jobs, and am saving, but the money likely won't be enough to get an old R100 engine. Not judging by eBay prices at the moment. There are tons of cheap 1100 and 1200 engines though....

3. I'd love to own another airhead, especially considering the dues. Unfortunately, I can say with some certainty that I won't have cash to buy another one outright...

Thanks for the help guys. I'm not exactly rolling in the dough myself, so I think I'll probably try to part it out and get a smaller bike to learn on. Probably what I should have done in the first...

Success!

Plaka was right, I just pushed on the weights on either side of the knob to which the piston attaches, and my engine spun neatly into position! Looks like the knob (crank journal?) has...

Just finished getting the right side off....

Oh, I was under the assumption I could get all the bits off the left cylinder without having to go into the right. I only have the left head off.

The rod is free from the cylinder, but the base of...

Hit a bit of a hangup, ran out of time before I could find a solution:

I've unbolted the rod, but it is wedged high in the cylinder, so I can't seem to get it out. I attempted to rotate the engine...

Hopefully the crank journal is still intact!

I believe the socket will have arrived at my workshop tomorrow, so I'm heading down to pull the rod and the oil pan.

Got the piston head out. Unfortunately, with the rod in the way, no useful pictures could be taken of the crankshaft. I did get a better look at the chunk I pointed out in my previous posts:...

I'm lacking the vocabulary and knowledge to describe this with any precision. I'd like to say a small cut parallel to the rod that has dug material out from the head. Damage that matches the pictures...

I'm getting a chance to take the piston off Wednesday, as I'll be home with the circlip pliers. However, looking ahead to the connecting rods, the Clymer says I'll need some "12-point special male...
