Engine revvs up but no power to the wheel, ?? (78' R100)

I was riding my 78' R100 last week, gave it full throttle on a straightway and the engine revved up and then went back down before the power went to the wheel, what the heck? It's been happening ever...

Yep, that's the regulator. But I agree, it is weird cause this definitely doesn't seem to happen often. Faulty wiring is best guess...I purchased this bike just last month but the previous two owners...

Not sure if it's an Enduralast but it definitely wasn't sitting in an instructed location. I was told they usually sit under the tank, which in this case, I'm REEEEALLY glad it wasn't or that flame...

And I'm an idiot :D For those who thought it was probably something very simple and stupid, you were correct...I had it on reserve the whole time. I got the fuel lines replaced anyway it runs great....

So the guy I bought it from informed me that i only had to keep one Petcock on...someone suggested to turn both on and it turned right over! (Didn't get a chance to ride it but it idled fine)....

Tight gas cap wasn't it and now it's not turning over at all (electrics are fine though, new battery and ignition is firing fine). Probably flooded with fuel...I won't be able to mess with it more...

Thanks everyone! Going out to try all the above, starting with loosening the gas cap. I tightened it up a couple days ago, had no idea that would affect anything.

Completely agree. I'm 30 so I'm not too worried about it being uncomfortable to ride around the city for now but I definitely want to switch out some parts for long rides.
