They could pivot on their mounts, but not fold, and in many dumps they saved the bike.
They did bend up, but you could just bend them back.

The shinko 712 is as cheap as you can get I think, about $50.00, and they are quite good for a cheap tire.
I have had a bunch and they are tough, smooth, long lasting, and very good in the rain....

I got 8000 out of them usually, and they were not as worn as most people run tires down to.
On the front, they last a lot longer.
