Sounds like the bystarter is working properly.
Easy to check. Pull the bystarter, apply voltage to the plug and see if the plunger extends. See if it retracts after you remove voltage....

Found a Kymco Yager 200i on clearance that ticks all the boxes.
Zippy enough for in town work, and with a little seat work and new rear shocks good enough...

You're never going to get the same compliant ride on a scooter as you had on your DRZ. Just have to avoid the potholes if you can.

I think most SYM forks are replacement only. Could be wrong...
