I'd like to add that I have ridden many off-road bikes, I had a R1200GS, and still have the HP2. Nothing, and I repeat: NOTHING, rides like the HP2 off-road.

It always puts a wide smile on my face...

Appears only the brake hose goes through the plastic frame on the triple clamp.

Also, did you use the zip tie to prevent the brake hose from touching the brake disc?...

Put it in neutral, start the bike, hit first gear, it stalls again...
It will keep stalling...

Am quite sure the mirrors on the R12GS '2004 are 17mm. Because I use this all the time for taking them on/off when I go offroad.

Maybe they changed this in later models?

I bought a 180/55 ZR 15 tire for my HP2 motard and it is squeaking against the swingarm. Am thinking will shave 2mm off the right hand side of the tire...

Letting air out is good for both your ride feel (since the tires are the first part of your suspension) and for traction.

Also if you are riding sand it is of utmost importance to go deflated.

How much do you tighten the rim locks? They always seem to give in, I'm afraid I'm going to break it, and the wheel still spins around the inner tube a bit.

I've got one lock, maybe that's why?

I spent a year or more driving my GS in the desert. It is not possible to do this without falling down, specially with the small front wheel and the thick soft sand..

So I guess they just don't...

I can tell you the Michelin Desert on the HP2 sucks in sand. Keeps spinning and no real grip. It is a very tough tire and will withstand a LOT of abuse. I think because the material is tough it does...
