My '90 CR500, which except for reeds and a pipe is stock, gets about 15 miles per gallon. Of course that's in the dirt with plenty of wheel spin. That's sort of the trouble with the street legal 500s...

I think with a stock 9:1 piston the mighty XR would run on kerosene. Might have some tranny parts for you if you want to PM me. I've got a few bottom ends in the bone yard.

I agree, I like to re-spring with Eihbock springs though. Stock forks and shocks are sprung for about a 140 pound rider. I haven't been 140 lbs since high school, hell I've eaten bigger burritos...

I don't like running synthetic oil in RFVC engines. They weren't made for it. I like Motol 10-40 mineral oil. Change your oil often, in spite of a perfectly functional oil filter dirty oil tears...

On that carb the mixture screw should be 1 1/2 turns out (not 2 1/2 like most carbs). Change your pilot jet to a smaller size until it pops and back fires on deceleration, then go the next size up.
