I had the same complaint on my collar. I have found that ensuring that the snap in the center is actually snapped lines things up so that it is not an issue. It's a bit fiddley solution to remember...

Try one only one eye...

No joke. 10-15 seconds before entering the tunnel, close on eye. Then open it upon entering the tunnel. It is weird, but the closed eye adjusted to the sudden darkness and picks up the limited...
