I would think that the same process for seasoning a cast iron skillet would work on bolt heads, but you will need to take them off the bike first.

Did you use aluminum anti-seize or nickle? If it is the aluminum kind, I would replace it. But if it is the nickle style I would use it over copper.

I think (only a guess) they are the ones that allow the barrels to be shortened 16mm. A rough calculation would be a piston with 16mm higher wrist pin + a 150mm rod will bring the piston 4mm higher...

I like "Simple Green" to clean of the oil residue. For the heavy stuff you might want to get a plastic scraper so you don't damage the aluminum.
