You can get a tall seat height out of the R1200R (~32.5" with the high comfort seat) - which might be nice if you are really tall. Then again, I can flat foot it just fine and I'm only 5'10" first...

You can probably consider your helmet part of a standard carryon, and place it in the overhead compartment (won't fit under the seat in front of you)....
