Spring riding heads up:

Watch out for ice on the otherwise clear roads when you go under an overpass! Minnesota under Dimond for example. Don't be in the middle of your lane and hit that strip of ice that is still there!

How about something like a Kawasaki KLX250. Single cylinder, street legal, with dirt capabilities. Or Kawasaki 250 sherpa, not sure if they're available anymore though.

Last year, mid-April, I bought a AGM battery for my KLR650 at BatteriesPlus here in Anchorage. It was $89.95 but they had a rebate going on for $15. If you can wait a few months I'll bet they do that...
