I did the same thing and wrecked the new seal getting it back out again. I didn't have two so I stuck the old one (which had been leaking) back in and it hasn't leaked for the last two years!

Sounds about right to me. The KLR runs fairly cool especially with cool air temps. That's why a lot of people believe that the thermo-bob is an important mod.

All that oil everywhere, missing important bolts etc. I wouldn't even think about it unless it was very cheap - and $3400 is not very cheap for a KLR even up here in the great wet north.

I've never personally had a problem with traction on the K60s but I have heard that comment before - mostly from owners of more powerful bikes losing traction on wet pavement under hard acceleration....
