How are you going to measure the heat on the inside of the pivot? Just heat it until it's too hot to keep a finger on it and go easy. If it doesn't shift fairly easy, apply more heat until it does....

There should be a proper cable connection for the Garmin. I got one for my 6210 (or whatever it is) from a supplier in Vegas for not a lot of money. Comes with a separate jack for earphones.

Nice! They would definitely fit on an 11XX, BUT as they are quite thick alloy by the look of it, you might find they throw the rear pannier mounts too far out if using the original System boxes.
