The right size for off road and still being able to take more than your wallet. Holds a couple of good meals, trail mix, extra water, irons, spare tube, and extra maps without a problem. I can get to both gas caps without moving it. The rain cover is a few bucks, but I've never used it. Been in total downpours and 2 full days of rain in Baja and nothing got wet inside. My bag is 2 years old. The rear straps are connected to the frame roughly forward of the tool box, cross underneath the seat, then poke out both sides of the seat near the Dakar guys head, where they clip into the tank bag. I've talked to guys who now wish they got the Explorer lite, instead of the Explorer.
