Seriously, I don't know which is "better" and like most other stuff I'm sure it depends on the rider...
I just did four days of ~450 miles per day on a Sargent with the $20 Wally-world "relaxation" pad on top of it (which was mentioned in some thread here on ADV) and I can tell you that my a$$ is complaining less than some other parts of my body.
IMHO the Wally-world pad is a bargain for $20.
It is nicely shaped for motorcycle use and has a non-slip vented cover.
Not sure how long it will hold up, but it looks pretty durable.
It is right next to the beaded seat covers in Wally-land, and a damn fine addition to any seat ... my hat is off to the guy that "discovered" it.
