What did the bike look like ? I like my bikes to much to beat on them that hard.
IMO(and just IMO...) everything on a bike should be able to take approximately the the same beating - crashes, romping through whoops, landing flatbottom, etc. The stock and crappy folding mirrors have been the ONLY part that has not been up to par. I still have all my original turn signals(even bulbs!), windscreen, bodywork(although not cosmetically perfect...), etc. - for reference. The stock (and crappy folding) mirrors just did not hold up at all.

Don't take this the wrong way, I don't mean in in any sort of condescendant or arrogant way - but perhaps you are just riding softer than most.
