Mounting the tank bag - quick release....

I got pissed off at the straps that go around the headset for holding the front of the tank bag ... I don't like leaving the tank on the bike and the straps were just a pain... so ... here's my solution:

Using a "keyhole router bit" I cut a keyhole slot in the bottom of the two buckles on the front of my bag. This requires some care to get right, and you need to make sure the keyhole is pointed in the right direction...
I bought a spare buckle at the local REI store to practice on, and I'm glad I did...



Then I got some longer button head cap screws than the stock ones at the front of the faux gas tank. I threaded ny-lock locking nuts onto the bolts and adjusted for the correct "clearance".



Now I just undo the one snap at the rear, slide the bag forward a bit and off she comes...
