The miles people get on a given tire vary dramatically. For example, someone here gets 10k out of a TKC rear. I've never got more than 2700 miles out of one.
The only real comparison of value that I can see is the same person comparing the life of a TKC on their bike to a K60 on their bike when used in similar conditions.

True.
My 8k statement was specific to Griz. I was going by the way Griz has described his riding habits, etc. in other posts and ride reports. I seem to recall that we got about the same mileage out of a TKC.
Oh, and further to your response: It looks like I'm going to get twice the mileage out of the K60 as I did out of the TKC. YMMV
