When Dave's tire blew back on day 16 you inflated that thing to 35PSI? Any reason for that high pressure. Kawa manual recommends 28PSI max and I usually drop that to around 20PSI on rough roads when loaded up (and I'm 220 lbs alone!). Just wondering if you would get a smoother ride on lower pressures, and maybe reduce the risk of flats?
.... Beers on me.
To get the tires bead to set on the rim, you often have to inflate the tire to a high pressure.
Patrick, I too have have been inspired by your report. Lots of people have done this trip, even on a KLR, but your reporting style has made me come back to read each post by you. The use of yellow text made it simple to find your posts and the pictures with short descriptrions and your feelings about them make your experiences come to life with out dragging on ...blah, blah blah.
So I started up my KLR this weekend and dusted off my Givi boxes...vacation in a month, who wants to go to Panama???
