Day tripping on the old Russian towns

Reading the reports in the section «Ride Reports» about travel some people in Russia, I often see your comments, that Russia for you is like a dark spot, and you might be interested to visit here. So I want to publish the pictures of our day tripping to Russian towns.

Usually, we go with our friends on the weekend trip to an old Russian town, which preserved the unique historical and cultural monuments in Russia. This is usually not more than 300 km. from Moscow in one end. Sometimes we spend the night in a hotel, sometimes returning to Moscow. So, let's begin.

Rostov or Rostov the Great

Rostov - one of the oldest towns in Russia, located on the shores of Lake Nero, in 202 kilometers from Moscow. The first mention of the city - in 862 yr.
On the western outskirts of the town
, on the shores of Lake Nero, is male Spaso-Yakovlevsky Monastery. Since the monastery acting - all the women at the entrance must wear skirts and hats (all of which can be taken at the entrance).

Rostov Kremlin - the former residence of the Metropolitan, located in the heart of Rostov. The residence was built as a citadel, though by then the era of construction of the Kremlin is the law and the walls of the Rostov Kremlin were decorative rather than a defensive function. In the Rostov Kremlin, was made a very famous Soviet comedy movie "Ivan Vasilyevich Changes His Profession."
