Hi Brent! I thought you would have had a lot more snow in June.
I guess 2010 was a year with late snow, considering that BigWan and I were there in July...

Snow-free photos coming up!

Okay, as you may or may not remember, we started our Summer of Stupid with a couple days from R-dubbís Pacific Crest Quest (pages 1 and 2 of this report).
We did our best to follow the GPS tracks, but due to the aforementioned unexpected snow, we missed part of the trail.
It seemed wrong to claim to have ridden those days, when we were unable to ride portions of the PCQ, so in September 2010, we went back.

We went South to North in July, and North to South in September.
In order to keep it from being too confusing, Iíll try to just give you the most interesting parts of the trail

You guys know I hate Google Earth, and vice versa.
Here is a rough map of our tracks - I added the city/hwy info by hand.
We covered the PCQ from Lassen (R-dubbís day 8) to Hwy 88 (R-dubbís day 6).

City/Highway map with key towns highlighted.

PCQ: bay area to Chester 325 miles

After leaving the bay area, we took Hwy 505 to Hwy 16.

We got on the gravel, near Stonyford, and made our way towards Red Bluff.

Thereís Mount Lassen!

We rode through the park.

Lassen has several geothermal areas.

It was getting late and we needed to find a place to camp.
We found a nice one near Wilson Lake.

Up this road...
It looked like it *might* have been closed, but we weren't sure.

Iím a jumpy free camper. I like to be pretty far off the beaten path.

This was perfect. Except for the Prophecy vibe...
(I think of that scene every time I zip up my mummy bag )

325.7 miles today.

OSO LOCO!! osoooo!

Oso bored? you can find the rest of our ride reports HERE
make stupid your favorite!
