Would or could this be of any trouble? Free filter requires more cleaning? Anyone got some testing on these?

just read about opening the airbox on a RC8R in connection with tuneecu - they had to work on a new map because of the increase of air intake.

if you stay on clean roads you might be lucky with the cleaning but on dirt tracks... just look at pyndon's pre-filter:
