Pissed Another new brake problem. LOCKED UP!

Yesterday my brakes froze up while riding my '05 1200 GS with less than 3K miles on it. I am a very experienced rider and racer and was riding in a spirited fashion (but not racing it) down a 10 mile paved canyon road (Evergreen to Morrison for the locals). I have ridin this canyon many many times with a variety of bikes never having a problem for the last bunch of years including many times already on this bike. I was getting back on the throttle comming out of one of the last few corners and the bike started to drag BIG time. As soon as I pulled in the clutch, the bike wheels immediately locked up tight (No signs on the dash saying anything was wrong). After shutting the bike off and waiting about 2 minutes the bike would freely roll again.
Fearing that the brakes may have overheated(?) and it would happen again and only being a mile from town I rolled the next couple of corners without using the brakes at all. At the next stopping point (traffic light) the brakes felt fine but to make matters go from bad to worse at the same intersection there was a young piece of shit PIG hiding around the corner on his hog police bike. He claimed had radared me coming out of the last corner doing double the speed limit (47 in a 25) and I lost half my driving license! This is a huge deal to me since I work at a residential treatment center (emotional disturbed boys) and need a very good driving record to drive them around (such as taking the kids up to PPIR for the AMA superbike races this weekend, something I have done for the last 8 years). And finally to make matters even worse yet, I had switched my work schedule so I did not have to work this day as I was summoned to Jury Duty which I found out that morning was canceled. Now as I am talking to the Cop I look up and 5 very familar vehicles full of all 24 boys, staff, and my boss drive by pointing at me. Son-of-a-Bitch it was a bad day!
Ok, now that I just vented a bit, back to my orginal problem at hand and question. What could have caused this and no, I don't mean the ticket, I guess that was my own stupid fault? Why would my f**king new $16+K bike's brakes fail like this? I really want to learn to love this bike and other than this incident, this bike has kicked ass both on and off road, but after this day it could just be enough to cause me to return to KTM (A bike that I can just bleed the damn brakes and try some different pads and do this all by myself)!
Thanks for any advice or just for listening to me whine, Joel
