Bears in Romania are easy to deal with. Most of them are curious and if you make big noise they will run away. The problem will be a mother bear with cubs around. But the chance to see a mother bear are the same with winning the lottery.
I know this because I grew up in a mountain village in Romania and in school they teaches us how to blow a whistle or clap our hands loud. Usually Carpathian bears are shy and they avoid human contact.
But there is one rule: If you camp, hide all food remains (dig a hole and put them there ...). Bears are big gourmands
and they will follow the smell.
