I was in the Rockies of Colorado on my RT and came up on a GS rider who was flogging it rather well. We played tag for several miles, passing each other and the triple digit marker as conditions allowed, taking it easy around other vehicles, but wicking it up whenever feasible.

After a number of miles of these "shenanigans" I found it necessaryto make a fuel stop. The GS rider followed me in. We exchanged pleasantries, complimented each other on our riding and compared itineraries for the day. We were soon to be parting company, but he gave me a gift as we were suiting back up.

"I like your riding- you were smart about when and where you were having fun. Why don't you take this - it might come in handy if you get pulled over between here and Durango."

He handed me a business card. Turns out he was a county sheriff! I won't share his name or the county, but rest assured I still have that card!
