Looks like you guys had a blast down in Goler. That must've been entertaining
So... I be one of the many non-nOObs that crashed the party
Knowing the area well and also knowing this would be a quality event, just couldn't pass up the opportunity. My friend rfmorris got a rare weekend pass and permission to come along. Also used this ride to try out camping off of the little bike. Sure, I cheated a little by letting DSM8 haul up my tent and some comfort clothes, but what the heck.
Got off to a late start due to the lousy weather. Didn't feel the need to get soaked in the first few miles, so we waited 'til just after 11:00am when the clouds suddenly cleared. Still, we expected to get damp thru the Cajon Pass, but hoped for better conditions up in the high dez.
Packed and ready to roll.
Heading into clouds on Baldy Mesa after clearing a mile of mud.
rfmorris has 'experience' with mud and today history would repeat...
Racing toward Adelanto
Still dark clouds above, but more blue sky ahead
Stopped in Silver Lakes to gas up and drop the rain layer.
Never seen so much water in the Mojave River. The crossing was wild
Roosting thru the Iron Mtns on our way to Hinkley.
Aiming for Black Canyon across the east end of Harper Dry Lake.
Pit stop at the petroglyphs.
Springtime in the dezert. Ahhhhh.....
Just cuz I like this one
Grass Valley wilderness.
Flying past Red Mtn.
Makin' up time on a short bit of pavement.
Backroad into Trona.
Stopped at Trails End in Trona for an early dinner 'cause we might not make it to PSR in time.
Lots of locals hangin out there this friday eve. Some interesting folk
Top o the Slate Range... Shadows getting looong.
We take a little single-track down into Panamint Valley...
... which brings us out at the mouth of Fish Canyon.
West side Panamint Road and the race to Ballarat begins
A 'quick' stop turned into a beer break and then the lights went out.
Into the night.
We shared headlights around Indian Ranch road, then up the pavement to PSR, arriving who knows when.
Found a place to setup tents (thanks Danny, Alon, Tomer) then over to DSM8's dryer fire for relaxing beers and warming tequila
Great way to end a great day
