The BMW bolt that attached the old shock to the frame mount is 15mm in diameter. There is something about this that tells me that I should leave this alone. I have never heard of one of these bolts snapping/shearing/etc ... While I like the idea ... I think I'd like to use that bolt.

I could use a different bolt ... I'll have to look through the local hardware store's selection of metric bolts.
