Thanks Lornce .. it's a DRZ400 front end. As luck would have it the DR series all use a similar steer tube diameter. The bearings are for a DR650 ... A real 'mutt' solution.

Drilling the shock's eye is the direction I'm leaning towards. Ther is definitely enough material on the shock ... just not in the bushing that I'm actually drilling. The solution might be that I simply drill a larger hole ... add a rubber tube, and use the bushing that came out of the BMW stock shock ...

I'll post a pic in a minute ...
