I made a couple trips down that way in 89 and 90 . Hurricane Gilbert is the reason for the dam , Lots of damage and loss of life . We tried to ride the canyon that year but it was not to be , way to much damage , The road up the canyon to Laguna De Sanchez was washed out , nothing but rocks and logs across the creek in a few places . Now is the time to come back, before another huricane washes out again the roads.

I'm planing to do very soon a quick weekend ride with tent camping, and some steak grilling, just to run away (for a while) from the damn heat down here in Reynosa.
