I think I posted recently that the bottom of my skiplate was starting to conform the the engine. My biggest concern about this was that the oil drain bolt was starting to become exposed. So I removed the plate to reinforce it.
This pic shows the shape of the dent in the plate.
I hammered the plate flat, cleaned the area to be welded, and cut a piece of aluminum for reinforcement. I had to leave enough room on each side of the reinforcing rib for the frame rails.
It was pretty difficult trying to get something as dirty as a skidplate clean enough to weld it, but it worked out. We'll see how well it holds up.
