The simplest way to get a disk on the front end is to bolt Tri-Z components onto your BW. If you get Tri-Z triple clamps, then the entire proposition is simply bolt together and requires no machining.
The downside to the conversion is that the forks have a lot of underhang below the axle and makes life interesting in ruts and rocky terrain.
To answer your earlier question: I do use studs on the BIgWheel. They only get used for a small percentage of most rides but make the experience tremendously more enjoyable.
