Depends on how competent your GF is on a scooter. That road may not be the best place to teach your GF how to ride. It's narrow in LOTS of places and there can be LOTS of traffic. There's also LOTS of curves that allow noobs very little margin for error. If you plan on going all the way to Hana and back from Kahului on scooters, plan on a full day. If you want to avoid the traffic, start out early in the morning but again, WATCH OUT FOR THE LOCALS 'cause they know this trick too.
