For an ADV'er we were thinking about 700 non ADV more like 800. Monterey seems pretty ambitious for a bike that hasn't been tagged since '83, but not saying it couldn't do it. I guess it also depends on your wrenching ability, as long as you can do minor repairs as needed and weren't in a big hurry it might be feasible.
