I once drove a 1961 VW Beetle from Port St Lucie FL to Grand Rapids MI. What is the relationship you ask? The 1200cc air cooled 4 cylinder has 36hp to move 1500lbs of car and 220lbs of Bernie. I kept it at 75 MPH with me and my luggage with zero issues. I was passing the slower traffic at 80+. I feel a more modern single cylinder engine carrying less than half the payload may do as well if not better than the VW.
By the way, the 1200cc air-cooled boxer only takes 2.5qts of oil and does not have an oil filter.
