Maybe easier to manufacture a Navtower this way if you are an everyday person without acccess to a machinist (I agree with the other point about the 2nd world country... ) . You buy everything of the self and all you need is a drill and a good heat gun. In any case I think it is better to make it flexible where it needs to be. I think if you have a crash like the Kawa above, the Roadbook holder itself for example will sustain a major damage, may be completely destroy itself. If you put some though in to the Navtower I am sure you can carry some major spare parts (i.e. you make it break where you would like to break, like the brake levers for example) and curry a couple of Al plates with you
