Another trick I use is I have an EMPTY large wolfman rollie bag mounted on my bike when loaded.
During the day if I want to take off a layer I have a waterproof place to do it.
At the end of the day if I want to grab some food or some beer at a store I have a place to put it while we head out to camp.
After camping and I need to pack my trash out.. I have a place for it to go where I won't lose it.
Works awesome, weighs nothing. Zero downside.

That's a big 10 4, cooler for food, beer, ice, and garbage in the AM and layers find a home in the roomy Loop.
