Finding the Lost Coast from the north.
Not easy and the day was running long. Everyone said to make sure that our tank was topped off so I waited until we got to Ferdale. The only station was closed.
Locals said go back 5-7 miles. That station was "members only". Dammit!!
A nice CHP officer was there and gave me directions to a casino with a station. I asked him to repeat all the turns and he said "Follow me." Unfortunately Julie got our only shot of our police escort through her windshield .
From there we went back. One mile into the very rough road I stopped to readjust my 2 extra tires. I local man who lived there stopped to ask if we were OK. He highly recommended we do it in the morning. he left and we had a snack. (Sorry Julie wasn't on point and missed this meal of Chester's Chicken that I picked up at the station. We decided that the morning would just bring more fog to cover the views so we went anyways.
It took a cross country ride but I have now found a highway super that does as poor a job as my own when it comes to understanding that huge potholes can kill a motorcyclist. If these were hidden in water it would put you over the bars. They were not new holes. Shit like this is criminal.
Besides the minefield in many places, the road is the most scenic we have ever seen anywhere. period.
Julie even found two thatch roofed buildings back there.
