Yesterday we rode a few more miles than we intended. We stopped at Redcrest to check on a very modest cabin. It was getting dark and I think the owner figured that into his rather high quote. I thought "What the hell" and asked to see the room. He said that I could see it after I paid. Julie was still in the hack but the office door was open. She heard the guy and politely shouted over "Have a nice evening."
We ended up riding to Garberville and got a room at the Best Western. This morning we rode back up 101 so we could putt slowly down the Ave.
HAD to ride through the tree!
I just love the old kitsch that still exists out here. This totem is amazing in size. Confusion Hill has all sorts of stuff that kids used to like before electronics. (I'm showing my age.)
Yes, it really is a hollowed out log. If I remember right, it was displayed throughout the US many years ago.
Around here we both took off our helmets so we could really enjoy the scenery. There was no traffic and we were never out of 2nd gear. Riding through here is like being in a natural cathedral to me. Those trees are awe inspiring.
It's hard to believe that the root balls are so small.
Just one of the average sized trees there.
They say that the Eel River flood in 1964 wiped the town of Weott right off the map.
Me spending an hour a day checking business emails and trying to entertain you FFs.
