Keep in mind too that the 990's with ABS have obviously added some weight to the equation. My stock 990 Dakar with about 3 gallons weighed in around 525 lbs. A 2-1 exhaust and a lighter battery should get me back close to 500. That's pretty darn close to what my old 950 weighed (without crash bars but with Gobi racks).
I've also got a Triumph Tiger 800XC loaner in my garage right (perk of my job
), and it's supposedly 475-ish wet. But honestly, the KTM carries its weight so much lower and better, it's pretty noticeable. Not that the Tiger is a bad bike (I really, really like it), but just agreeing with others who have pointed out how well the big orange bike carries itself, when upright at least.
