Buckhorn Lookout/Asotin Loop
– Total just under 200 miles, ½ dirt and ½ paved.
There is gas available in Asotin about half way through this loop. Directions at the end of the post.
Zumwalt Rd. makes some people smile
Buckhorn Lookout
Cold Springs Rd
Joseph Creek Rd.
Had to climb a cliff to get this picture but it was worth it.
There are a few critters out there.
Rattlesnake Grade
Broggan’s Osis can get busy
But if you are lucky you will be one of the few people there enjoying their yummy ice cream and they have pie too.
Leave camp S to Entreprise
Go through town South following 82
Turn E. (Left) on Ira Pratt/Cow Creek
Connect with Zumwalt/Imnaha Rd
Continue NE and the road will change to Zumwalt/Buckhorn
Follow signs to Buckhorn Lookout
Return to Rd.which has now changed to Buckhorn and head N (Right)
N (Right) on Cold Springs Rd. about 8 miles from lookout
This will run into Joseph Creek, follow N
Left on Snake River Rd and follow to Asotin
Point of Interest: Petroglyphs on riverside of road about 8 miles from the Joseph Creek Snake River intersection. For GPS users it’s here: N46 10.335 W116 56.201
There is gas in Asotin. From Asotin return to camp on hwy WA129/OR3 Rattlesnake Grade. At the bottom of the grade at the
Grande Ronde is
Boggan’s_Oasis
a terrific place to stop for a break since they have yummy ice cream.
