He lead the way almost the whole ride. He came to ride hard and he succeeded.





I didn't successfully take another photo that day. My Cannon decided it didn't want to behave among other reasons.

Riding was AWESOME here in the Rio Grande National Forest! Indiana Pass was spectacular.
Everything was going great until just before Del Norte. We got our asses kicked by Mother F-in Nature.
It was threatening to storm on us for an hour or so. I was up front, for some reason, with Bill following in the truck. it started raining on me just as the gravel section gave way to paved. I was good to go cuz I had put my rain gear on and secured the bike for rain, but I didn't expect what happened next. Dime size hail began to smack the crap out of us. I was riding virtually blind, but there was no shelter to hide in. I looked down at one point and saw what I thought was foam covering the road, but it wasn't foam. It was an inch of friggin hail! I slowed a bit
Bill had the sense to capture these videos.
He has music playing and is screaming at one point.

This is Kevin's take on the morning.


I thought my rain gear had failed because my uh crotchal region was cold as ice..... well... the gear did its job, there was several inches of hail piled up down there.

When the storm subsided, I felt like I won a war!! And there was much rejoicing.

We were all beat and in need of a break, so we got gas and ate at a restaurant in Del Norte.

For me, this is when the day went really bad, I got the news that my friend Lakota had highsided and was in the ICU in El Paso TX with a brain injury. That's all I knew until I got a text from RFlagg42 the next day. He made me feel a little better. I was feeling pretty helpless a state and a half away. Lakota is still recovering from his trauma and is making progress.

With my mood in the shitter, and all of us feeling the mornings whompin, we skipped the afternoon gravel and made straight for Salida where we got 1 of 2 hotels during the CDR trip.

I have no pictures from any town... I didn't take a photo in Salida and we f-ed up and missed Heydukes Fat Tees shop. I have shirts from him. He's the official ADV shirt vendor.

Salida was the coolest little town.

7/6/12 Friday.
North of Salida. Into San Isabel National Forest.

Another spectacular day on the CDR!!! Colorado TOTALLY SUCKS!!

we traded a few stories, talked about how cool ADV is and went our separate ways. I swear I saw him again giving me the salute going the other direction. As I saw the guy on the grey F800 he gave me the finger, I thought how reassuring!!! There were many short riders we ran into, but ALL of the long distance motorcycle riders were ADV riders!!!!

It got stormier and stormier as the day went on for the 4th day in a row...
We decided to get our second and last hotel on the CDR. The Colorado we were visiting was rainy every day.

The next motorcycle joy was my headlight malfunction. Laugh at me if you will.... and you will... I still have not worked out the intermittent headlight.
I was cranky and didn't ride the afternoon of trail. I pulled into a hardware/autoparts store and took the front of my bike apart. i effected no change in my headlight woes by the time the other riders caught up to me.

We met another couple of riders on the CDR..... Her F wasn't going to stay that clean for long!!!

As Banjo said, we were in for it while going over the border of Wyoming.... something like 60 miles of high speed washboard that shook our teeth out. We followed that with the BEST FUKIN CAMPGROUND of the trip.

If I said to you "someone go back and get a shitload of dimes" would you know what I was talking about?
Evidently it didn't escape the riders up front, but my friend Bill??? Nothin.




Just south of Rawlins Wy. I realized that I was BEAT.... When the decision was being made about where we were staying, I demanded that we stop in the first campground available.... It was a KOA right up against I80 and an apartment complex. It didn't suck, uh, but... it want great niether.
Some angry fucker, in the middle of the night, decided that some woman, who we could clearly hear as well, had to come outside and something.BLAH BLAH>.. .. Then it changed to send "him" out here.... Maybe he was indiscriminate in what pleasured him at 0400 in the fucking morning.
H14 was up... unable to get back to sleep.
I heard rustling next to my tent where I thought Bill was. I really thought he was gonna teach the loud douchenozzle where to put his er.............. mouth.
I said "don't do it" to the night.
H14 didn't know why I said it, but thought I was dreaming or something.
Turns out that Bill had nothin to do with it, but the thought of getting up and putting an asshat in his place occurred to him.

H14 saying WTF JAX.... Good campsite.

Jack, it will always be my pleasure to ride with you. Even if it means you get to pick the campgrounds .

First campground in target town = non bitchy Jack.

Not that bad really... It had WIFI, outdoor kitchens, nice bathrooms, and we had pizza delivered to our site!!
Just had to put up with angry asses and crappy views, except that cute blonde bicyclist. She was a fine view. LOL


Y'all, I can't believe we have been home for weeks...... Just aint right.
