Hi DesertDave. I am glad you photographed Lassen before the fire started. We happened to be at the Prospect Lookout the day the Reading Fire started. The lookout attendant said it was a small fire and they were letting it burn to "clean up the ground cover". Here is how it looked on July 23rd...

One of the latest reports:
"The Reading Fire in Lassen Volcanic National Park grew to about 6,030 acres as of 9 p.m. The main road through the park remains closed starting at Kings Creek and extending to around six miles north of Summit Lake, near the Chaos Crags."
Actually, they shut down the whole park today.
