I didn't. The drive is from a K1 and pairs perfectly with the
original shaft. I'll put the inside cover from an 1100R final
drive to allow me to use whe twin pot caliper. I'm relieved
there's nothing you're aware of that would stop this from
working. This should be a bolt up job with no machining
apart from making up a shim for alignment purposes.
Very interesting. Besides maybe the parts being available ... what are your reasons for doing this? Is there some sort of design benefit? The R1100's are not supposed to have the shaft problems of the R100's. Is this the reason? if this is the case, why not replace the swingarm as well? Does the shaft mate differently with the transmission?
