Stick coil question
So I "know" a guy that bought an '04 1150GS (dual-spark) a few months ago. He's been pulling his hair out since he bought it thinking that something just wasn't right. Or so I've been told.... New plugs, TB rebuild, injector cleaner, injector soak, throttle cables, 3x valve adjustment, 4-5x TB sync all with little to no improvement. Today while driving home from work he remembers reading a thread about testing stick coils by pulling one or the other. Well as it turns out one is dead. Moved it to the other side (he did that is) to confirm and the trouble moved with the coil.
So... how much improvement can he expect to see from a new coil or set of coils? Is performance affected more at higher RPM's and more noticeable under load as opposed to no load? Is BB the best (read cheapest) option for these?
